Poole had a successful high school career, winning the Wisconsin Mr. Basketball award in 2016. He was also named a McDonald’s All-American and played in the Jordan Brand Classic game in 2017.

Poole had a successful freshman season at Michigan, averaging 10 points per game. He helped lead the Wolverines to the 2018 NCAA Championship game, where they lost to Villanova.
